Hi,

I'm wondering how the Bluespec community has tackled the problem of converting floating point algorithms to fixed point; specifically finding the right precision for operations that trades off good algorithm performance vs. area and power. I'm aware of FixedPoint.bsv, but I'm looking for a more semi-automated process. Any suggestions?

I'm also wondering why we can't generate code for Real types. This would be very handy for simulation purposes, e.g. testing out an algorithm and architecture before transitioning the design to fixed point.

Thanks!

-Tom
